Privacy Policy

This notice explains what personal data Mr. Lingo collects at mrlingospeak.com, why, and what rights you have.

Last updated: August 25, 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

Mr. Lingo is owned and operated by Daniel R. Parker Jr. (trading as Mr. Lingo), who acts as the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. Contact: parkersdaniel@gmail.com.

2. What we collect and why

  • Account data — email address, authentication identifiers (including Google sign-in identifiers if you use it) and password credentials stored in hashed form by our authentication provider. Used to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Voice audio and transcripts — the audio you record when you tap the microphone, the transcript produced from it, and the resulting translation. Used solely to deliver the interpretation you requested. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Plan and usage data — your plan, trial status, subscription status and a count of translations used per week. Used to apply the 5-translations-per-week free allowance and unlimited Premium access, and to prevent repeat trials. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
  • Language and voice settings — your chosen languages, voice gender, speed and auto-play preferences. Stored on your device. Legal basis: contract performance.
  • Technical and security data — IP address, device and browser information, request logs and error reports. Used for security, fraud prevention, debugging and service improvement. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Support messages — anything you email us. Used to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests and contract performance.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use your voice recordings to train our own models.

3. Conversation history on your device

Your conversation history is stored locally in your browser so you can review past sessions. Clearing history in the app, or clearing your browser storage, removes it.

4. Who we share data with

  • AI processing providers — audio and text are sent to AI speech-to-text, translation and text-to-speech providers through our AI gateway strictly to produce your transcript, translation and spoken output.
  • Hosting, database and authentication providers — to run the website, store your account and plan records, and keep the Service secure.
  • Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record for the sale of Premium. Paddle handles checkout, payments, subscription management, tax compliance, invoicing and refunds, and processes your billing details under its own privacy notice. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Professional advisers — legal or accounting advisers where necessary.
  • Authorities — where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

6. Retention

Audio is processed transiently to produce your translation and is not retained by us as a stored recording. Account, plan and subscription records are kept while your account is active and for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. Security and error logs are kept for a short period. When data is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls on our database, and row-level access rules so users can only reach their own records. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis. Email parkersdaniel@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you may also complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. US residents may also have rights to know about and delete their personal data and to opt out of any sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal data for advertising.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and voice settings, and store your local conversation history. We do not use advertising cookies. Paddle may set cookies necessary to complete checkout. You can clear or block storage in your browser settings, though sign-in will stop working if you block essential storage.

10. Children

Mr. Lingo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

11. Changes and contact

We will post updates to this notice on this page with a new "last updated" date. For any privacy question or request, contact Daniel R. Parker Jr. at parkersdaniel@gmail.com.
